The Development Services Department (DSD) is proposing adoption of several amendments to the Building Criteria Manual (BCM) in the 3rd quarter of 2021. The proposed amendments:
Section 5.6.2.13 (Air Test On Plastic Non-Pressure Plumbing Systems) *New*
Section 5.9.0 (Single Stack Drain Waste And Vent System Designed With Specialized Fittings) *New*

Building Criteria Manual - 2021 3rd Quarter Rule Changes is currently at this stage
Initiating department prepares new rule by working with the City of Austin Law Department along with other City of Austin departments that may be affected by the new rule. External meeting begin for input about the proposed Rule changes.
Interdepartmental Review

Department Rules Single Point of Contact submits required documents for publishing and notifies all City of Austin Departmental Single Points of Contact. Interdepartmental review begins.
Notice of Proposed Rule
this is an upcoming stage for Building Criteria Manual - 2021 3rd Quarter Rule Changes
The Land Development Rules Manager submits required documents to City Clerk for Official Posting. Formal public comment process begins. Contact information for submitting comments to the appropriate department contact will be announced. If you missed the opportunity to interact during the "Develop Rules" stage in April, this step will be your next opportunity to provide input. The Notice of Proposed Rule will begin on July 8, 2021.

The final rule language is sent for publishing. This language includes the rule number, specific criteria manual being updated, date of adoption and effective date to MuniCode. This will be published on the website and included in the next quarterly update of the hard copy criteria manuals.
