The Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center (ESB-MACC) opened in 2007. In 2018, City Council adopted the MásMACC facility expansion plan. Now, with funding from the 2018 GO bond, implementation of Phase 2 has begun. Phase 2 includes expansion and renovation of the facility in addition to site improvements in order to meet the growing needs of the community, supporting programs which foster meaningful understanding and appreciation of Mexican American, Native American, Chicano and other Latinx Cultures.

El Centro Cultural Mexicano Americano Emma S. Barrientos (sigla en inglés ESB-MACC) abrió sus puertas en 2007. En 2018, el Consejo de la Ciuadad adoptó el plan de expansión de instalaciones MásMACC. Ahora, con fondos del bono GO 2018, ha comenzado la implementación de la Fase 2. La Fase 2 incluye la expansión y renovación de las instalaciones, además de mejoras en el sitio para satisfacer las crecientes necesidades de la comunidad, programas de apoyo que fomentan la comprensión y el aprecio significativos de las culturas mexicoamericana, nativa americana, chicana y otras culturas latinas.

    • Adequate parking

    • Outdoor amphitheater
    • Teaching/Industrial Kitchen

    The ESB-MACC Phase 2 Improvements will continue the expansion and renovation of the facility as outlined in the 2018 Plan adopted by City Council.     The first step for the Project Team is to identify which aspects above are possible with the available funding. Your responses below will help the team to identify decision-making criteria based on values of the community. Responses should focus on what may have changed (or not) since the adoption of the 2018 Plan.

    Las Mejoras de la Fase 2 de ESB-MACC continuarán la expansión y renovación de las instalaciones como se describe en el Plan 2018 adoptado por el Ayuntamiento. La instalación actual de ESB-MACC no tiene suficiente espacio para albergar la gran cantidad de actividades comunitarias disponibles o deseadas. Las diez necesidades más importantes para la Fase 2 identificadas en el Plan 2018 son:

    • Más aulas y estudios 
    • Acceso y vistas al lago Lady Bird 
    • Más espacios de galería 
    • Estructuras de sombra en el Zócalo 
    • Gran Entrada
    • Espacio de actuación más grande (teatro) 
    • Estacionamiento adecuado  
    • Café 
    • Anfiteatro al aire libre 
    • Docencia / Cocina Industrial 

    El primer paso para el equipo del proyecto es identificar qué aspectos anteriores son posibles con la financiación disponible. Sus respuestas a continuación ayudarán al equipo a identificar los criterios de toma de decisiones basados en los valores de la comunidad. Las respuestas deben centrarse en lo que puede haber cambiado (o no) desde la adopción del Plan 2018. Puede responder todas las preguntas o cualquiera que elija.
