Public Comment Period Has Concluded


Background
The federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, or CARES Act authorizes funding to be deployed by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to respond to the virus. Funds must be deployed through three programs:
  1. Community Development Block Grant coronavirus response (CDBG-CV)
  2. Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG-CV), and
  3. Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA-CV).

The City of Austin expects to receive approximately $7.2 million in funds. The funds will be used to prevent, prepare for, and respond to the coronavirus impacts to Austin.
